Wai Sum graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Industrial Chemistry in 2013. She started her career by working in an ISO 17025 accredited commercial laboratory with different commodities: industrial minerals, fertilizer, geochemistry, ferroalloy and coal. She has been a registered chemist (MMIC) under Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM) since 2015 and holds the responsibilities as an approved signatory for the laboratory. Her current role is to lead a team of chemists and lab technicians with resources available to achieve high quality and technical aspects in the laboratory. She’s well-versed in technical support for analytical technique and method development, as well as maintaining laboratory operations in compliance with QAQC and the management system.
